The Arc of the United States is comprised of over 700 chapters nationwide that serve thousands of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
In 2016, The Arc launched the Storytelling Challenge, which aimed to collect stories about how tech was used in the lives of the people The Arc serves. The resulting mega data set will be analyzed to understand how tech can better serve those with disabilities.
The Arc brought me on as a heavy-hitting freelancer to create all UI for this project on a short deadline, as well as resolve some UX challenges left by a different designer.
Google was a major funder of this study, so we used Material Design standards as a framework for our design. I embraced The Arc's colorful brand palette and created a design system that was fun and friendly but also simple and highly usable for users with less tech expertise. We took a mobile-first approach based on our audience and the unique needs of this project.
